Sure, you can haul mountain bikes in a truck by draping the front wheel over the tailgate. But what if you need to run into the store and leave them outside? Or what if you don’t want them bouncing around on a dirt road?
<Hoodworks solves that problem with its new GearGate Cycling Comp. The product is a replacement tailgate that comes with three built-in bike axle shafts that lock down your front fork (it works with regular dropouts and thru-axles), plus a heavy-duty chain that threads through the frames to keep them secure. There are also tons of accessories, such as a toolbox, a combination-lock safe for keys and cell phones (so you don’t have to take them on the bike), LED lights for when you’re changing out of your kit at dusk, and two beer openers.
Built in the U.S. and constructed of heavy-duty steel and aluminum, the GearGate is currently available for most full-size pickup trucks, with more options for Toyota and Nissan coming soon. Additional accessories such as an integrated back-up camera are available as well.
